Fattoria San Donato is KM away from the principal route of La Via Francigena, a wonderfully strategic position for those who are taking a long stretch of the Via or for those that wish to be a pilgrim for a day.
The Via Francigena is Medieval route running for 1800 km across Europe, that used to connect Canterbury to Rome and to the harbours in Puglia. The Via Francigena intersecting with two other majors Christian routes: Jerusalem towards east and Santiago de Compostela, towards west and was therefore crossed by many pilgrims.
Today the Via Francigena is travelled by many, old and young, religious and non, enjoying the beauty of the surrounding nature and escaping the frenetic rhythms of everyday life.
